OPEN Rotterdam, a kind of regional public broadcaster, has made a documentary about the energy transition of the Rotterdam port. Hydrogen and buses also play a role in this. The RET and 3EMotion are clearly visible.
It is now widely acknowledged that the future of public transport buses will have to be zero-emission. Fuel cell electric buses (FCEB’s - also called hydrogen buses) are one of the technologies that meet that requirement.
Friday September 28 , the first fuel cell electric buses of the 3Emotion project, funded by the FCH-JU, will run for the first time on line 70 of public transport operator RET in Rotterdam.

Geert Van Hecke from Van Hool will present speak about fuel cell buses and give an overview of the fuel cell bus projects including 3Emotion during the session starting at 11.20am.
Friday June 30, the first fuel cell electric buses of the 3Emotion project, manufactured by Van Hool, are launched at public transport operator RET in Rotterdam.
The buses will fuel at the existing refuelling station of Air Liquide in Rotterdam, of which the storage capacity is expanded for this purpose, also within the 3Emotion project.
This week (may 24), Wuppertal based WSW mobil GmbH has tendered the procurement of 63 fuel cell buses for operation in public transport. WSW is coordinating the joint procurement for its partners Verkehrs-Verbund Mainz-Wiesbaden GmbH, traffiQ Frankfurt, Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (all Germany) and SASA SpA-AG in Bolzano (Itay) which are going to operate these buses in the next years.
